Membership Benefits

The NoBAWC Community

NoBAWC members form a community of democratic workplaces. Our network means that each of us is part of something greater, an extended family, a social movement to transform our lives and society. Our network also means helping and supporting each other when we’re in need. Let us know what you need and the NoBAWC community will try to help you fulfill it; let us know what you offer to the community and NoBAWC will try to be your voice to the network.

Member Discount Program

NoBAWC members receive a discount off the regular price of goods and services at other participating NoBAWC workplaces. NoBAWC members simply present their membership cards prior to purchase to receive their discount. Although most workplaces offer a 10% discount, some workplaces do not offer discounts while others offer discounts which vary from the 10% standard. Photo identification may be required prior to purchase.

Other Discounts

Historically the discount program has been just within NoBAWC workplaces, but recently members of NoBAWC were offered the opportunity to buy wholesale-priced outdoor gear (various brands) at the Mountain Hardware employee-store in Richmond during two month-long windows per year.  The next window will be from October 28 to November 29, 2016. Please print the invitation and bring it along with your NoBAWC membership card and a photo ID.  (We’ll have the invitation linked here for print closer to the next window.)

Resource Library

The NoBAWC Resource Library is a collection of materials related to workplace democracy. It is available, free of charge, to NoBAWC members and those doing research on democratic workplaces. The Library consists of organizational materials from NoBAWC workplaces, publications, magazine/newspaper articles and videos related to workplace democracy.

The organizational materials include bylaws and policies from democratic workplaces. The purpose of this collection is to help existing and start-up democratic workplaces develop their structures by providing real-world examples from other democratic workplaces. Workplaces sharing their documents sign a consent form which allows NoBAWC to share these documents only with those who work at democratic workplaces, provide technical assistance to democratic workplaces, are seriously interested in starting a democratic workplace or who are engaged in research on democratic workplaces. Individuals reviewing these documents are given a written disclaimer that clarifies the limitations of the information and how to is to be handled.

If you would like to borrow from or contribute to the NoBAWC Resource Library, please contact us at info@nobawc.org.
